Extended Virtual-Signal-Injection MTPA Control of New Five-Phase Flux-Intensifying Interior Permanent Magnet Motor with Compensation Factor

For the maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control system of the five-phase interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor, its MTPA control accuracy is greatly affected because of the cross-coupling and saturation effect of the motor, which cannot meet multiple operating requirements for electric vehicle applications. Motivated by this, an extended virtual-signal-injection MTPA (VSI-MTPA) control strategy is proposed in this paper. A new five-phase flux-intensifying interior permanent magnet (FI-IPM) motor with obvious inverse saliency effect is adopted to suppress the influence of cross-coupling and saturation effect on the tracking accuracy of MTPA point. In addition, for the inverse saliency of the five-phase FI-IPM motor, a VSI-MTPA control strategy with the compensation factor is proposed from the perspective of control algorithms to further improve the dynamic and steady-state performance of the motor drive system. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified by analysis results.
