Historiographical Study of the Evolution of the Geocoding Systems with Equiangular Tessellation

The study aims to summarize the key turning points in the development of certain fundamental geocoding techniques developed over the last decades. In the study is used historical and historiographical method by extensively relying on the historical records available at Internet archive website archive.org. This approach gives the opportunity to access web site information published in the past, but not available nowadays due to different circumstances. As a result, several similarities in the development of the studied geocoding systems are identified. Comparing the features of different geocoding systems using historiographical techniques throws new light on the study of geocoding systems. Because it has been discovered that modern geocoding systems are based on older ones, this research may aid in the development of new geocoding systems in the future.
