Engineered microtopograhy on PDMS surface for nontoxic coatings to marine bio-fouling prevention

In this work is presented design and fabrication of microtopographical surfaces for nontoxic antifouling coatings for application in the marine environment.. Two types microtopographies including combined elements-one based on ribs with lengths of 2, 4, 8, 12 μm, heights of 3 μm and separation widths of 2 μm and the other based on triangles with the side of 10 μm surrounded by pillars with a diameter of 2 μm and a height of 3 μm, were obtained using molding technique in silicon molds and then replicated on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrates.
