Analysis of Glucose-Insulin Dynamics as an Integrator in Type 1 Diabetes

Glucose-insulin model is an important entity to understand and predict the effect of glucose fluctuations with respect to insulin dosage and meal intake. We study this aspect from a system modelling point of view in light of the control system. The Bergman minimal model is considered here as a glucose-insulin interaction model and its linear model is characterized as an integrator. A method is then proposed (probably the simplest one) to further reduced the linear model into an integrating system with time delay. The obtained reduced model straightaway depicts the insulin sensitivity index which is an important biomarker for the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.
