Indoor Environment Quality of Industrial Workplace in Bangladesh

Indoor environmental quality is crucial for efficient and accurate monitoring in Bangladesh, a developing nation with a large garment industry. However, poorly designed factories can cause employee illness and affect production due to confined conditions. To address this issue, it is essential to ensure a well-designed thermal environment for the garment industry. This paper presents a system for monitoring the indoor environment to improve Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) in industrial buildings. The system monitors parameters such as Carbon dioxide (CO
2
), temperature, humidity, noise, air pressure, and light. A sensor network gathers information, which is processed by a centralized control system. Decisions are made by considering the calculations of measurement uncertainty. Field investigations in Bangladesh revealed that air pressure, humidity, and light levels were acceptable, but CO2 pollution, sound intensity, and temperature were slightly higher than the norm. To address this, regular breaks and pollution prevention measures are suggested. The system provides real-time surveillance of IEQ conditions. Overall, this system contributes to the development of environmentally conscious and healthful industrial settings.
