Simulation on Temperature Rise Using Ring-Resonator-Type Device for Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording

The temperature rise including the recording medium using a novel device, in which a metal nano-antenna is attached to a semiconductor ring resonator, was numerically simulated. We found that a heat spreader surrounding the nano-antenna can significantly reduce the temperature rise of the nano-antenna while heating the recording medium sufficiently.
