Principle of Air Cooling of Permanent Magnet Axial Electric Machine

Ensuring optimal operating temperature is one of the most important steps in the design of an electric machine. Not only the output characteristics and reliability, but also the performance of the electric machine as a whole depend on the operating temperature of the active parts. To this day, the use of an air cooling system does not lose its relevance, which, in comparison with others, has the lowest costs for implementation in terms of weight and size indicators. One of the main elements of the air cooling system is the body fins, the design of which directly affects the operating temperature. This article discusses the influence of the orientation of the casing fins on the operating temperature of the active parts of an axial electric machine with permanent magnets.
