Rate-Splitting Multiple Access-Based Uplink Satellite Networks with Receive Antenna Selection

In this paper, we propose a receive antenna selection scheme for uplink rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) in satellite communication networks. The closed-form exact outage probability expressions of the proposed scheme are derived for the shadowed Rician fading channel. Simulation results validate the derived expressions. Moreover, the proposed scheme is compared with the antenna selection-based nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA), the maximal ratio combining (MRC)-successive interference cancellation (SIC)-based NOMA, and the MRC-SIC-based RSMA schemes. Our results show that the proposed antenna selection-based RSMA scheme outperforms the antenna selection-based NOMA, the MRC-SIC-based NOMA, and the MRC-SIC-based RSMA schemes.
