SpaceTech Solar Array Experience in Series Production

The market demand in solar arrays, after years where few manufacturers could manage with significant margins, almost stable production volumes are now changing at speeds never experienced before in space. To produce faster and cheaper is something achievable with different strategies but to guarantee the performance and reliability of the entire subsystem poses significant burdens. The SpaceTech (STI) proposal is an attempt to prioritize the requirement to arrive at a standard product capable of satisfying a wide range of missions. The key to the success of this idea is mainly in the possibility to negotiate with the platform primes in an early design phase on how to combine these two things in a possible efficient way.
