Impacts of Distributed Power Consumption on the Power System Stability for a Huge Power Satellite

Penetration of electrical propulsion and requirements of electrical orbit duration reduction, as well as growing demand for communication capacity, lead to huge power design for satellites(towards 100kW), and hence a high voltage power bus. Relevant techniques now become hot topics in space industry and research fields. It is certain that increasing number of payload units will be widely distributed in a large satellite. They call stability concerns due to interactions between those locally designed units. In this paper, a model of EPS (electrical power system) for a huge power satellite was established and simulations were conducted to investigate the stability issues. Some basic conclusions in terms of parameter design were drawn and recommendations were proposed.
