Discontinuous Galerkin Formulation for Modelling Multiple Material and Multiple Conductor Junctions

Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) [1–3] implementations applied to surface integral equation (SIE) method of moments (MoM) [4] formulations (and expedited via multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) [5] and domain decomposition method (DDM) [6]), have brought the possibility of solving complex electromagnetic (EM) scattering problems through the use of nonconformal meshes. Such possibility is very appealing, especially in the context of DDM, as it allows the different subdomains to be modeled and meshed independently, without paying attention to the concordance of mesh in the tear contours between them. This greatly simplifies the CAD generation and meshing processes.
