Speed Control of Single Phase Induction Motor using TRIAC and Bluetooth Device

Inspite of various data inspiration from various speed monitor and control techniques many industrial applications require the ability to adjust and maintain a constant speed for high-quality production. With advancements in automation and process control, the requirement for adjustable speed drives has rapidly progressed. In the past, DC motors were commonly used for variable speed drive applications, but in recent years, induction motors have become the preferred choice for various applications such as industrial drives and automotive control. As a result, there has been a growing demand for adjustable speed drives in the industry. Thus, speed control of an induction motor is necessary for multiple reasons, including energy efficiency, precision control, and relieving the motor of irrelevant stress. This paper focuses on regulating the speed of a single-phase induction motor with an Android application. Using an Android mobile with Bluetooth wireless communication and the TRIAC firing angle (via a potentiometer knob) control method, a system has been developed for controlling the speed of an AC motor. Here, the speed can be adjusted from 0% to 100% in three distinct intervals. The proposed technique is also cloud supported so that an individual can monitor the data.
