Advancements in Hand Health Management: Real-Time Monitoring and Assessment with a Wearable Sensory Glove

This work presents the design and implementation of an innovative soft and wearable sensory glove for the hand, capable of measuring the force applied by the fingers and the angle at the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints. For individuals undergoing hand rehabilitation training, the proposed sensory glove can provide real-time feedback on force exertion during exercises, facilitating progress monitoring and necessary adjustments to the rehabilitation process. Active collection of sensory data assists healthcare professionals in better analyzing various distinct hand functions and development of personalized treatment plans. By continuously monitoring finger force and joint angles, abnormal patterns or changes that may indicate the onset of conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis can be identified. Moreover, the sensory glove promotes preventive measures by encouraging better hand ergonomics during daily activities.
