LabVIEW-based Design of Smart Wireless Monitoring System for Cardiac Patients

In recent decades, heart disease has emerged as a major threat to public health. The challenge problem in such diseases is to diagnose the problems in the heart early before get a critical threat in human’s life. In this study, ECG surveillance system has been designed and implemented in real-time environment to detect and diagnose the heart disease with low cost and burden on patients. The real-time implementation of the device includes both hardware and software designs. The medical device AD8232 will record the patient’s electrocardiogram (ECG) from the chest and transmit these data to a PC computer via Arduino DUE. Then, the ECG data will be sent to LabVIEW programming platform to make usual medical analysis. Inside LabVIEW platform, the features of ECG features are extracted using wave transform. Subsequently, the results of analysis will be sent to IOT, where it is received by the Thing Speak server, from where it can be accessed by a doctor or hospital via a mobile device for diagnosis.
