Comparison of Structure and Control Strategy for Offshore Wind Power Integration Using HVDC

Recently the development and utilization of large-scale offshore wind power is developing rapidly, and offshore wind power integration and transmission using HVDC have become technical hotspots. However, there are lacks in specific comparisons of the structures and control strategies for offshore wind power integration and transmission, which may lead to unreasonable design schemes and increasing engineering investment. Therefore, in this paper, three structures and control strategies for large-scale offshore wind power integration and transmission to load centers using LCC-HVDC and VSC-HVDC are proposed, and the comparison of the topological structures, control strategies and the behaviors under different conditions are analyzed as well. Dynamic simulation results based on PSCAD/EMTDC demonstrate the performance of three different schemes and the applicability conclusions based on different scenarios are given.
