Assessing the Voltage Stability of Power System in the Presence of Increasing Solar PV Penetration

In this paper, the voltage stability analysis of a power system with increasing Solar PV penetration is investigated. IEEE 14-bus system was used for the study. DigSILENT was used for the simulation while MATLAB was employed for the result analysis. Relevant result shows that all the lines are within the normal loading limit throughout the penetration levels, generators have different characteristics with respect to penetration levels. Voltage stability result shows that integration of 10% SPV at bus 5 gives the highest improvement in stability while bus 11 presents the least improvement with 34.91 % and 5.97% respectively.
