Secure IoT Gateway: The First Layer of Cybersecurity for Secure Infrastructure in Smart Cities

Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept that connects the virtual realm of data with the physical realm of tangible goods. IoT enables smart cities to gather and analyze data to improve the overall efficiency of the urban environment. IoT gateway emerges as a crucial bridge between IoT devices and the internet. This intelligent intermediary facilitates seamless communication, data exchange, and coordination among the interconnected devices. This paper proposes an implementation of an IoT gateway based on a Raspberry Pi 4 which offers network sniffing capabilities, IoT communication protocols prioritization, access point channel reconfiguration, and detection of unconfigured IoT devices.
