Generalized Linear Network Analysis Method Based on the Transfer Scattering Approach

In this article, a generalized transfer scattering analysis algorithm of arbitrarily connected multiport network is presented. We define each circuit element by linear equations that relate incident and reflected waves at output ports to the incident and reflected waves at input ports. To ensure the uniqueness and solvability of the system of equations for nonsymmetric multiports connection, additional wave variables are introduced. The matrix of coefficients of the system of equations is called the extended transfer scattering matrix (T-matrix). In general,

parameters. The analysis of the network is conducted by successive multiplication of component T-matrices. Numerically the method is efficient, explicit, easy to implement, and parallelize. It outperforms other analysis methods in large network synthesis. The transfer approach also makes finding a solution analytically simpler.
