Impact of Transmitter Local Oscillator Spurious on SAR Images

This paper studies the influence of local oscillator transmitter's spurious on SAR images. Synthetic spurious sam-ples have been generated and applied on the transmitting local oscillator signals. Series of measurements have been carried out and Back-Projection algorithm is applied on received data in order to obtain the SAR images. A degradation of the azimuth resolution is observed for
$-10 \ \mathbf{dBc}$
spurious level at frequency shifts of 0.1
$\mathbf{kHz}, 1 \ \mathbf{kHz}$
. In addition, side-lobes levels which are close to the main lobe are increased by
$1.2 \ \text{dB}$
. However, spurious levels of
$-30 \ \mathbf{dBc}$
and
$-50 \ \mathbf{dBc}$
do not have any impact on either azimuth resolution, side-lobes and speckle levels. Ground resolution is not affected by spurious signals.
