Design of a 250W Ku-Band High Efficiency Space TWT

A Ku-band helix space traveling wave tube is designed in this paper. The output power, gain, and electronic efficiency are guaranteed by using pitch gradient technology. Then a four-stage multistage depressed collector is designed to achieve efficient recovery of the electron beam. In the simulation design, the output power is more than 250W in the working frequency band(1GHz) Meanwhile, collection efficiency of the center frequency can be more than 80%, except for the sharp decrease at high frequency that reaches 75.58%. The total efficiency is estimated to reach 74% in the working frequency band. A tube based the scheme is being processed and assembled.
