Compatibility analysis of AeroMACS and RLAN

The AeroMACS (Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communications System) is planned as a new data link to support airport surface applications. It is expected to be implemented in the 5091-5150 MHz frequency band which is adjacent to the radio local area network (RLAN) frequency band. It is essential that the RLAN does not cause harmful interference to, or from the AeroMACS. The objective of this paper is to investigate the compatibility studies between the AeroMACS and the RLAN in the adjacent frequency band, and to propose mitigation measures that include frequency assignment planning, geographical separation and power control as appropriate.
