Prediction of Electric Field of Overhead Power Transmission Line Based on BP Neural Network

The electric field poses great influence on the flight safety of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for power grid patrol inspection. Aiming at prediction of the electric field strength around overhead power transmission lines, a back propagation (BP) neural network model is proposed in this paper. The proposed model consists of 3 input nodes (including the coordinates of a planar point and soft measured electric field at this position), 10 hidden nodes and 1 output node. The results show that the maximum error between the predicted value and the hard measured value is around 5%, making it promising for the proposed model to facilitate the optimization of UAV patrol route planning for transmission line inspection.
