Simulation Modeling of a Flotation Water Treatment System for Attack Evaluation

The paper proposes an approach to the development of a simulation model of an industrial flotation water treatment system designed for solving problems of attack modeling and evaluation. The model provides a mechanism for generating initial data on the functioning of the system through using a graph of generalized system states. The system states are formed based on the readings of the system sensors and the current configuration of the actuators. An analytical model of attacks on a flotation water treatment system, including a list of relevant attacks and their characteristics has been produced. In the forthcoming process of studying attacks, the proposed model will significantly reduce the impact of organizational and technical difficulties that arise in full-fledge natural modeling of attacks directly on the physical implementation of the water treatment system. In addition, the sequences of transitions between states will make it possible to form scenarios both for the normal functioning of the system and in case of attacks. Such scenarios could be used to obtain estimates of the attack feasibility on large samples of initial data, which would be considerably difficult to fulfill in the framework of a full-fledge physical model.
