Improving Performance of Low-Cost Microcontroller Equipment, Based on Systematic Errors Correction

Low-cost devices may have characteristics that do not make them attractive for their inclusion in high-performance equipment. Microcontrollers are an example of devices that can be found in a wide range of applications and that also determine a suitable price. The objective of the paper is to present a method of obtaining superior performances with a microcontroller characterized by a low price. The reduction of offset or amplification errors through hardware and software methods has been analyzed, so that D/A conversion errors, for example, do not exceed its intrinsic error. The method can also be used for A/D conversions. For comparison, experimental determinations will be made without and with the necessary corrections. These can be done both individually and simultaneously, for both corrections. These corrections are made both by the source code written in the microcontroller, but also in the external conditioning circuits of the microcontroller.
