Using the Variable Flow Hydropower Potential of a Drinking Water Supply Pipe of a Small Town

The use of the hydro-energetic potential of the adduction pipelines for the water supply of the localities is a desideratum that is only at the beginning of the road, although in Romania there is the possibility of obtaining an installed power of over 300 MW. In the present paper, an application with a power of 100 KW, made in a small town, is presented. The main component elements of the micro hydropower plant and its principle operation in fully automated mode, without the presence of human personnel, are described. With the help of a dedicated software, a preliminary analysis of the feasibility of this project is made.
