Fast-Phase-Switching Current-Mode Phase Shifter for Beyond 5G Phased Array Antenna

This paper presents fast-phase-switching current-mode vector sum phase shifter using current switch arrays. The current switch arrays provide useful functions of digital control and linear phase control as well as fast phase switching while having tolerance to PVT variations. A prototype phase shifter exhibits linear phase shift characteristics of 360° at 5 GHz without any digital pre-calculation or calibration. The measured phase switching time is 100 ns.
