Architecture and Sensor-Level Performance of a 78 GHz Automotive Radar System-on-Chip in 22 nm FD-SOI CMOS

A highly integrated Radar System-on-Chip (Radar SoC) in 22 nm FD-SOI CMOS is presented. The Radar SoC consists of a 78 GHz frontend with four transmit and four IQ receive channels. The Radar SoC is capable of Doppler division multiplexing and features a configurable radar signal processing unit, an application subsystem with a programmable processing core and a shared random access memory. Target simulator based system level measurements demonstrate the overall functionality as well as the performance of digital IQ correction and Doppler division multiplexing.
