Induction Machine V/f Control with Stator Flux and Slip Frequency Compensation for Maximum Power Factor, with Experiments

Taking into account their affordability, reliability, mechanical robustness, especially in hostile environments, but also their low cost, induction machines continue to be preferred in many industry applications. Usually, the implementation of vector control necessitates the use of current or position sensors, which increases the cost of the drive system. On the other hand, the traditional V/f scalar control does not need a sophisticated control strategy to identify the rotor position, though it is mainly characterized by slow speed response, especially when load torque is applied. Therefore, this paper proposes a comparison between both simulations and experimental results for two different V/f scalar control methods, with voltage amplitude correction loop and slip frequency compensation considering the maximum power factor condition, for a 300 W induction machine (IM).
