Multi-Criteria Decision-Making RASS-RATSI Approaches to Rank Soils Olive Tree Growing

In semi-arid areas, agriculture is based on limited and fragile “water and soil” resources that are often overexploited. To ensure the sustainability of agricultural land management in rural areas, environmental assessment must be integrated to support both policy-makers and local stakeholders in their decision-making. Sustainable intensification in agriculture entails the need for management practices able to boost the activity of soil biogeochemical cycles, functional to long-lasting soil biological fertility. This work aims to propose a tool that can evaluate the different soils for olive culture. In this study, two MCDM approaches, RASS (ranking alternatives based on surface similarity) and RATSI (ranking alternatives based on surface trace index), were presented to rank soils for olive tree growing in Tunisian orchards.
