Evaluation of reduction system of gas flaring and venting and petroleum production optimization Case: Unit of GCR-GEA-SONATRACH

In recent years, Algeria has experienced a growing demand for hydrocarbons on the world and national market, in return production has fallen considerably according to figures recently published by the National Statistics Office (NSO). In the face of this crucial situation, in particular competition, decision-makers are called upon to be reactive to this production problem, Techniques such as compression and gas reinjection, which aims to optimize production and reduce the volume of flared gas and associated gas loss, are installed to ensure the sustainability of these industries. The realization of this technique is a systematic solution to both production and environmental problems; hence the interest to ensure the safe operation of these systems. In this context, our contribution aims; the analysis of the malfunctions of the “GAZ LIFT” compression and reinjection unit; by the development of a methodological approach based on operational safety tools in order to provide management decision-makers with a decision-making tool relating to measures to control these malfunctions and therefore ensure the optimization of production, the valorization of natural resources, and the protection of the environment. Finally, the purpose of this article is to demonstrate the contribution of methods and tools of operational safety to the dimensions of sustainable, economic, environmental and social development.
