Setup, Start-Up and Data Analysis of a Multi-Compressor Control System for Cold Storage Refrigeration

Cold storage refrigeration plants require a lot of energy for their operation and need of efficient control and supervision systems which can control, supervise, monitor, and analyze the operation. The present paper proposes setup, start-up and data analysis procedures which have been designed and implemented for a real multi-compressor control system aimed at cold storage refrigeration. The developed project is associated to various levels of the hierarchy on industrial automation and meets the Industry 4.0 paradigm. The implemented system operates the plant 24/7 and allows all the needed operations for a safe plant conduction. Data analysis revealed that different optimization margins are present from both energy efficiency and control point of views. Future developments will focus on the exploitation of these margins for an improvement in order to contribute to the challenging sustainability objectives for 2030 and 2050.
