Analysis of Heavy Rain (2021) Using CX-Band Multi-Parameter Radar Data, Kyushu, Japan

A heavy rainstorm from a wide stationary front fell on the Kyushu region of Japan on August 11–19, 2021. The total rainfall reached 1178.5 mm in Ureshino (Saga Prefecture) and exceeded 850 mm at 19 locations in six capital prefectures of Kyushu. We analyze the rainfall data recorded simultaneously across the entire Kyushu region with the CX-band Multi-Parameter (MP) radar system, a state-of-the-art radar system that provides much greater precision than the C-band radar.
