A comparative study of airspeed calibration using GPS method and tower fly by method

Airspeed calibration is a prerequisite for obtaining accurate airspeed and a basic requirement for airworthiness standards. Due to position error, delay error and instrument error, the measured accuracy of different airspeed calibration methods is different. In this paper, the GPS method and the tower fly-by method are used to calibrate the airspeed of small fixed-wing aircraft, the corresponding data processing methods are established, and the airspeed calibration errors of the two methods are comparatively analyzed, and it is found that the tower fly-by method has smaller position error and better calibration results.
