Remote-Controlled Lawn Mower Powered by Solar Panel with Sun Tracking System

Most lawn mowers are operated requiring individuals to direct the machine in cutting grass. In addition, some utilized gasoline to run the engine, adding to air pollution. To overcome the above limitations, this study is conducted to develop a lawn mower that can be remotely operated in any direction by adjusting the wireless remote control. Additionally, it is powered by a solar panel with a sun-tracking system to conserve energy and lessen air pollution that harms human health and the environment. In this study, the lawn mower can be controlled in any direction, with an adjustable blade height, a solar photovoltaic panel with a sun tracking system, and that determines the electric power efficiency of the system. The completed lawn mower prototype could be controlled in forward, backward, forward-left or right, and backward-left or right directions to nearly 30 meters. Furthermore, the remote-controlled adjustable blade height can be moved upward and downward 2 cm to 4.5 cm above the ground, a solar photovoltaic panel with a single-axis solar tracking system that can be tilted to 34 degrees. The fully-functional prototype showed an electric power efficiency of 92%.
