Electromagnetic Scattering Analysis of Offshore Wind Farms Based on Multilayer Fast Multipole Algorithm

As a special class of complex electrically large target bodies, the study of electromagnetic scattering characteristics of wind turbine is of high practical value. In this paper, we use the multilayer fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) to group the three-dimensional complex targets geometrically in a hierarchical manner, and obtain the radar scattering cross section (RCS) for a given frequency and observation direction by solving the conbined field integral equation (CFIE), which can effectively calculate the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of wind turbine in offshore wind farms. The numerical results show that the algorithm has high computational accuracy and its application to the calculation of electromagnetic scattering from offshore wind farms can have a significant impact on navigation safety and radar detection to the sea.
