Design of Spherical Phased Array by Beam Synthesis Based on Polarized Rotation

In a spherical phased array, polarization direction of each element is different because all elements are not in the identical plane, which make patterns of the units different. The spherical phased array antenna has problems of non-isotropic polarization, which leads to inability to form the main polarized beam at certain angles, generating null steering beam and serious degradation of antenna performance. To address above problems, spherical phased array beam synthesis based on polarized rotation is proposed. By controlling the polarized direction of each element and compensating its phase, the electric field vectors of all elements are superimposed in the identical direction, which can achieve a better main beam performance.
