A Leaky-Wave Antenna with Full-Space scanning capability based on Goubau line

A leaky-wave antenna with full-space scanning capability based on Goubau line is presented in this paper. The LWA consists of orthogonal-bending Goubau line and periodically placed stubs. Orthogonal bendings on Goubau line introduce periodic perturbations to the guided wave of Goubau line. Infinite space harmonics are generated, which can realize beam scanning. The stubs are periodically loaded onto Goubau line to suppress the open stop band (OSB). Consequently, the proposed antenna achieves a nice broadside scanning and −10 dB impedence within the entire operating frequency band. The proposed antenna realizes full-space scanning with peak gain of 10.4 dBi in the operating frequency band 2.1-5.1 GHz.
