Design and Implementation of a Four-Channel Broadband High-Speed RF Receiver for 5G Communication System

In order to meet the high-speed, broadband, and high-quality communication module requirements in 5G communication system, a four-channel broadband direct RF sampling receiver board is designed by using two AD6688 data sampling receiver chips and a zero-delay dual-loop clock scheme. The RF receiver board was fabricated through PCB processing and ultimately tested. The test results demonstrate that the RF receiver board performs well and maintains good signal-to-noise ratios in the 2~4-GHz frequency band when receiving a 400-MHz 5G NR signal. The board was also tested under different power levels ranging from -10 dBm to -30 dBm at 2.9-GHz and 4.06-GHz, giving less than 1.2 dB in-band fluctuations and less than 2.1% EVM. The RF receiver board can be effectively utilized in an asymmetric massive MIMO system.
