A Dual Polarized Vivaldi Antenna Loaded with Dielectric Lens

A dual polarized Vivaldi antenna loaded with dielectric lens is proposed, which consists of a dual-slot Vivaldi antenna and a dielectric lens. Based on the study of dielectric lens, an elliptical lens containing two media is designed, which is loaded on the upper end of Vivaldi antenna. The lens converts the spherical wave into quasi-plane wave, thus increasing the antenna gain. Compared with the Vivaldi antenna, the gain of the Vivaldi antenna loaded with dielectric lens is improved by 2-3dBi. In 0.5-2GHz, the antenna gain gradually increases with the increase of frequency, and the maximum gain can reach 13.88dBi. In addition, impedance matching of the proposed antenna is good. The simulation results show that the antenna return loss is less than -10dB in the range of 0.5-2GHz and the absolute bandwidth is 1.5GHz.
