3D-Printed Transparent Fresnel Zone Plate Lens With Multi-beams at Ka-band

This paper presents a transparent Fresnel-zone-plate (FZP) lens antenna with multi-beams operating at 28 GHz. This antenna is fabricated by 3D-printing technology with an optically transparent material, and air-filled holes are added to achieve different phase compensation. For ease of polishing, the holes are modified to quasi-trapezoids from circular ones. Seven magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antennas are designed to excite the lens, generating seven radiation beams covering a range of ± 21° with a peak gain of 20.7 dBi, and the maximal scan loss is 2 dBi, while keeping the reflection coefficient smaller than −10 dB.
