Garlic Routing-based Privacy Preserving Framework for Secure Data Exchange Between IoMVs with 5G

Vehicular communication is one of the major outbreaks in communication that makes smart connected and autonomous vehicles (SCDVs) a reality. Nowadays, in almost all verticals, such as military, surveillance, industrial Internet of things (IIoT), etc., these vehicles play a vital role. Among these, the SCDVs have a great scope in military applications for border surveillance. They are referred to as the Internet of military vehicles (IoMVs), These vehicles exchange information via an open wireless network, which is highly susceptible to various security and privacy attacks. Existing solutions are based on traditional cryptography (single-layer encryption) and onion routing protocol (multi-layer encryption). Single-layer encryption can be cracked using quantum computing, but in onion routing, every single message is encrypted using a triple layer of encryption (using a single algorithm), which is computationally expensive. These issues can be eliminated using the garlic routing protocol, which sends a bundle of messages together encrypted using two different encryption algorithms. Motivated by this, this paper proposes a garlic routing-based privacy preserving framework for secure data exchange between IoMVs. The performance of the proposed framework is evaluated by considering the anonymity rate and bit error rate parameters. The proposed framework has high anonymity rate of 68% and low bit error rates compared to the existing schemes
