Quasi-electrostatic shielding of dissipative cylindrical shells

A new analytic expression for quasi-electrostatic shielding of a dissipative cylindrical is derived from Maxwell’s equations and validated with simulations. The results clearly demonstrate that a dissipative shield is only effective for preventing the build-up of electrostatic charge. It does not provide full shielding against even slowly varying electric fields.
