Influence of nonlinear circuit components on the creation of intermodulation

To enhance the research of intermodulation distortions (IMD) in the field of EMC a nonlinear circuit was built to simplify the measurement of IMD. A simulation was carried out in order to study the influence of various nonlinear components on the creation of IMD. The first part of this work summarizes the general and most important influences of the static and dynamic characteristic curves on the creation of IMD. The second part presents some measurement results in order to verify the simulated results. These measurements were made with a developed circuit containing either a Schottky diode or a voltage comparator and a excitation with frequencies of 19 kHz and 21 kHz.
