Control equipment in the unique EMC environment of High Current Testing Laboratory, case study

The High Current Testing Laboratory (HCTL) must be safe for the operational staff. Moreover, equipment supervising the test must operate without any malfunctions. It was observed that the time-phase controller used for supervising the test gets sporadically out of control, in the HCTL under consideration. Investigation of the EMC environment showed its uniqueness in the considered HCTL. Therefore individual, specific EMC test program was elaborated. The time-phase controller did not pass this program. Consequently, the need for a new, robust time-phase controller arose. In turn this resulted in a development, construction and assembling of the new device. The new one passed the previously prepared test program. Although an individual case is presented in the paper, general hints useful both in development of the control equipment and planning as well as organisation of the HCTL are formulated in the conclusions.
