Common Mode Loop Impedance Analysis for Wire System in the Vehicle using PEEC Solution

The novel simulation process based on the dual probe method and an enhanced partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) is developed and validated. With a proper calibration process, the proposed method allows us to determine the common mode (CM) loop impedance of the complex cable system in vehicles at the early design stages. These CM loop impedances will be useful for designing a cable system, which should be immune to electrical interference. The method is validated against the standard enhanced partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) and Method of Moments (MoM) as well as measured data. Then, the proposed workflow is used for the analysis of grounding configurations of the common rail pressure system in the vehicle. Simulation results are compared with measurements.
