A Novel Spread Spectrum on Average Time-Based for Serial Interface

In this paper, a new definition of the EMI reduction mechanism is presented, and it is expected to improve the data reception sensitivity of mobile devices through EMI reduction. The main contents are to introduce a method to reduce EMI more than 90% and to identify jitter level is the same as SSCG OFF at the same time by adding average-time concept. Data reception sensitivity in wireless communication is characterized by reviewing the average data reception error rate for a specific period of time. The average-time concept, which is the key to reduce the EMI. SSCG+ is a method in which the display clock harmonics reduces the time probability in the wireless communication band. It is changing the datarate from several Mbps for each section in OLED display. Even if the fundamental clock frequency is changed by only a few kHz, the clock harmonic frequency between the changes is shifted by several MHz in the wireless band. In other words, the advantage is to reduce the probability that the clock harmonics exist in the wireless band because the clock frequency is continuously changed based on the discrete frequencies. In addition, the signal integrity of SSCG+ shows that the jitter characteristics are the same as that of SSCG off, because SSCG+ has a constant transmission speed in the active data sections in display. This paper proposes a method for improving the jitter and EMI levels at the same time.
