Analysis of Threats to Information Security of Industrial Automation Systems Using Euclidean and Hamming Distances between Fuzzy Sets

The issues of using Euclidean and Hamming distances between fuzzy sets in the process of analyzing threats to information security of industrial automation systems are considered. This approach allows one to formally describe the degree of danger of various categories of information security threats (and their combinations), taking into account the mathematical interpretation and graphical visualization of the danger level of these threats. This, in turn, makes it possible to increase the visibility and reliability of vulnerability monitoring data in order to make decisions on the degree of their danger, and allows one to select or develop adequate measures for the effective protection of industrial automation systems. The features of applying the results of mathematical calculations of various Euclid and Hamming distances for fuzzy sets, which are typical for plotting graphs, which make it possible to reduce the fuzziness of the description of the level of threats of a different nature, are discussed. The results of an experimental calculation are described, which make it possible, as an example, to judge the degree of danger of certain categories of threats and their combinations for industrial systems of this class.
