A Self-Checking Deadlock Unlocking I2C Method and Design

Aiming at the application of I2C bus in real-time communication system, this paper starts with the problem of communication deadlock, analyzes the protocol of I2C bus and the traditional methods of detecting deadlock and recovering deadlock, and finds that the traditional methods of detecting deadlock and recovering deadlock need the cooperation of external circuit or software, which increases the complexity of development. Based on the principle that abnormal reset can be distinguished by the logical relationship between bus state and host state, this paper gives a theoretical model that can self-check deadlock and recover, and analyzes the performance of I2C controller for deadlock check after adding deadlock detection and recovery module. A design of I2C controller with self-check function is proposed, and the self-check module is added to the I2C bus host controller, which solves the problem of I2C deadlock caused by abnormal reset and other reasons. ModelSim simulation and verification show that I2C host controller with deadlock detection and recovery module has good performance of deadlock detection and recovery.
