Real-time Parameter Estimation for Hypersonic Target Based on Weighted Least Squares

Real-time parameter estimation of hypersonic target is a challenging problem in radar detection field. In this paper, a parameter estimation method based on weighted least squares (WLS) is proposed to achieve the real-time estimation while maintaining accuracy. Firstly, the instantaneous distance data of object is obtained from the pulse compressed echo. Then, by using the instantaneous distance as the observation data, the WLS is applied to estimate target parameters, including range, velocity, acceleration and jerk. The simulation results verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method. In addition, some useful rules are obtained by investigating different influencing factors, including pulse width, bandwidth, and time-varying target.
