Miniaturized Optical Fiber Turbidity Sensor for Turbidity Monitoring in Constricted Space

Aiming at the problems that existing turbidity sensor is difficult to be applied to constricted space because of its large size and easy to be interfered by stray light, a miniaturized turbidity sensor based on 90° scattered light measurement principle is designed. The sensor adopts the flexible glass fiber bundle as the light guide medium to realize miniaturization design, and adopts the stray light protection parts design to avoid the influence of stray light on measurement, these measures effectively improved the environmental adaptability of the sensor in constricted spaces. At the same time, the sensor also has a dynamic compensation function of light source, which avoids the influence of sensor light source fluctuation on measurement and improves the accuracy of the sensor. The measuring principle and design method of the sensor are introduced, and the performance of the sensor is verified according to the application requirements. The experimental results show that the sensor has great accuracy and stability, and can be used in various turbidity monitoring occasions, especially in constricted spaces.
